In the light of examination fear (the No. 1 fear of kids in Singapore: not doing well for tests and exams) issue, I want to talk about my childhood fears today (Come to think of it, this is the last time I’m having an official school examination, gah…so not going to miss it).

I was very scared of dolls with eyes that could blink when i was a kid. Always thought those eyes to be scary, probably because of Chucky i think, on hindsight. My preferred choice of doll was always Barbie. Had a few of those we now still keep in a styrofoam box hidden in the storeroom. Maybe in future I’ll show my kids the dolls and say, “These were Mum’s favourite toys!” and they’ll say “Ee…what’s so fun about this, we’ve got our virtual toys which are way better!” Hahaha.

Then there are cavernous holes I’m afraid of. Come to think of it, timid me has many such fears which are deemed harmless by others la, but I recently got in touch with this particular fear when I was navigating the fake rainforest in the Singapore Flyer site at night. They had these cave-like things behind the mini waterfall, and I really had trouble going thru and I tried to think of why– one possible reason popped up: Dragon World. That boat ride through the “18 Levels of Hell” was hellish, what else, and horrifying for a kid– still rather horrendous for me to think back about the images, and no better way to prevent us from doing immoral and bad things.

Ok, that’s all for now. I’m still feeling sluggish. Darn. Must pick up myself soon. That wisdom tooth’s been causing nagging pain for some days now and I’m irritating Mum by constantly whining about it– she thinks it’s nothing and just a growing tooth! But that tooth’s been there since a long time ago, and while it has caused trouble before, it’s nothing quite serious as now– aye, but it’s exam period, should I really need to extract it, then have to make appointment and all that…gah, I’ll just head to the school dentist tomorrow and see how. But but but…I also have agliophobia! *cries*
